Instructions for Flying Sky Lanterns
1)
Swing lantern in the air while holding the bamboo ring.
2)
Hold the lantern upright, OR hold sideways, light patch, fluff & flip over quickly when burning well.
3)
Allow the lantern to heat up (30~45 secs)
4)

How long do they fly?
They will fly for about 5 ~ 10 minutes
Depends on several factors
- a. How long before it fills up with hot air for good lift off.
- b. How long you keep the patch burning before you turn the lantern upright to fill with the hot air.
==> Should take 30 ~ 60 secs to get patch burning effectively, then another 30 ~60 secs to fill up with hot air.

How far will they fly?
They go with the wind
- On average, probably about 1~5 miles.
- with no wind, I have seen them land 100 feet away.

How high will they go?
They will go a mile or so high.
Depends on humidity and temperature.
- the cooler the weather, the higher they go. 1+ mile high.
- the hotter the weather, maybe 1/4 mile high .

Are they legal?
Yes, but like everything, you have to use your judgement when best to use.
- Some localities, states have different regulations.
- Some European countries may have banned them and may not allow them to be imported.

Can you bring on an airplane?
Yes, you can bring them on airplanes.
- They can also be taken on as a hand carry-on.

Can I use them at local events?
Must ask event co-ordinator 1st.
- public events still have their legal issues and rule and steps to follow.
No reported events have are known to be rejected to this date.

How to use?
- give to each attending couple.
- have groom and bridesmaids light them.
- use before and after ceremony (day or night)
- Colors best for daytime events.

Can I fly them in windy conditions
NO, it is extremely difficult to get them flying properly and 90% of the time, they will crash into an obstacle.
It is best to light them in NON-windy conditions.
Ideally, wind below 5 mph

PLEASE NOTE:
if windy or gusty, the wind will blow the paper inward while trying to inflate making it very difficult to get enough hot air into it to achieve lift.

Will they fly in cold weather?
Yes, they will fly great.

Will they fly in hot weather?
Yes, they will... but above 90 F and 80% humidity, they will NOT get the height... maybe 500~1,000 feet only.

Will they fly in HOT and humid weather?
Kinda.
In extreme heat and humidity, they have a hard time getting lift.
The air is very dense and since it since it surrounding air is also very hot, it will more or less float and not achieve great heights.

What is perfect weather conditions?
72 degrees (21 celsius) with 10% humidity
They will achieve altimum height.

Are Foldable lanterns as good as regular lanterns?
YES, they are.
They are the same size and more convenient to store and hand out to friends and family.
About 1/3 the size
NOTE: If you did some regular lanterns for a party, and want to give something as a remeberance gift, these would be perfect.
Perfect for giving people as a thank-you gift for coming to an event party or as an advertising gimic.
